Somerset Summer

On Monday, Coby and I drove down to Somerset to spend some time with Teresa and Amber. Unfortunately on the way there, we had a minor collision with another car, but nobody was injured and with the help of the AA, Enterprise Car Rental and Teresa, we were soon back on the road and heading home to Teresa's house for a well deserved cup of tea....

During the week we spent two lovely days with auntie June too, she drove over from Taunton which is about 40 mins away from Teresa. On Wednesday we went to Longleat, which I give the ultimate thumbs up - such a beautiful park where we had the opportunity to hand feed Fallow Deers, and they were so gentle. I think the lions could have made more effort for us though - they were sleeping under the shade of a giant tree in a big huddle....

On Thursday, Teresa took us to the Fleet Air Arm Museum and it gave us a closeness to uncle Adam who is currently training in the USA and is not due home until September. I personally love air museums and having the opportunity to see aircraft close up. There was an exhibition about Kamikaze pilots which was fascinating and Teresa showed us the helicoptors that regularly fly over her house - a Westland Lynx and Westland Sea King - really magnificent machines...

Stick Man

We DO love trips to the theatre and today we were very excited to be seeing a stage adaptation of one of Coby's favourite books. Stick Man is written by Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo, Tiddler and Room on the Broom. Scamp Theatre presented an hilarious version at Watford Palace Theatre with lots of audience participation. Coby loved shouting and trying to catch the beach balls thrown into the crowd....

Japers with Jacob

On Wednesday we took a drive out to Hitchin, our old stomping ground and caught up with Jacob and his dad, Greg. The boys played in the park and then it was lunch at Pizza Express. After Greg left to take Jacob to his new school in Essex, Coby and I paid a quick visit to Waterstone's. We had a lovely chat with James and bought three new books!

Jump!

Coby is loving his trampoline so much and every visitor to the house generally gets collared to have their turn! On this occasion it was Annabel and daughter Zoe, 2 and son Victor, 8 months...
