Getting better every day

I am happy to report that Coby is well on the mend. He is still a little out of sorts, but with rosy cheeks and a smile that constantly melts our hearts, little Coby is fighting back...

Reunion

This afternoon we got together with all of the couples from our ante natal class and had the most wonderful time. We all get on so well and the mummies have already been meeting once a week to swap tales and anecdotes about our experiences as first time mums. The babies were all born within days of each other, apart from Louis who had a two week head start arriving on 1st November. He was followed by Alicia on the 14th, Coby on the 16th, Jasmine on the 20th, Olly on the 22nd and finally Lola on the 25th. Three beautiful boys and three gorgeous girls. In a rare photographic opportunity, we managed to capture all six together for the first time...

Daddies & babies; getting them to all sit still at the same time was a nightmare,
and the babies were just as difficult too!

Precious, precious, precious.

We took Coby to hospital last night because his breathing was a great concern to us. He was wheezing and breathing very shallow. So, on the advice of NHS Direct, we took him to A&E.

I had taken him to our GP earlier in the day and he was prescribed antibiotics and saline nasal drops, but after his last feed before bedtime, he was sick and his breathing seemed to deteriorate.

On arrival at the hospital, Coby's oxygen was slightly low and he was given an oxygen mask, which he persistently knocked away with his tiny fists. He was also given a nebuliser and monitored before the paediatrician came down to see him. He suspected the onset of bronchiolitis, which is quite common in babies. Fortunately, his oxygen level came back up and he took all of his early morning feed. In the end he was turning on the Teplet charm and smiling away at the nurses, but frowned up at the paediatric doctor as he did his examination.

I nearly booked myself in as a patient....the anxiety was written all over my face as the nurse prescribed a good cry when we got home. I only made it to the car before the tears came down in big heavy sobs. And so it begins...the anguish of being a parent. Now I know what really causes wrinkles!!

It's A Boy!

Many, many congratulations to my friend Lorna and her partner Phil. Lorna gave birth yesterday morning to a baby boy. Weighing in at 7lbs 7oz, here's...TOBY!

So Coby and Toby - how cool!

Well done Lorna - you're going to be a fabulous mummy!

Planning ahead...

I cannot deny I was astounded when I found out that we need to put Coby's name down for pre-school like NOW! He's only ten weeks old! We're talking two years away!

Anyway, I did some research of our local area to find out what was available to us and I was happy to find a pre-school just around the corner called 'Tiny Hands'. I've called them up and Coby is officially on the waiting list. I asked if it was too early to put his name down and the supervisor replied with a resounding "Its never too early!".

I'm pretty sure, just as Coby is fast approaching the three-month old baby landmark, that his first day at nursery will soon be here. It seems such a long time since he was a newborn in the Special Care Unit, yet it also seems like yesterday - my concept of time is all over the place at the moment. One thing is for sure though, the time I'm having with my son is the best of my life. Coby is such a munchkin and a cutie and when he smiles and holds my gaze, well, my heart just melts.

Poorly Coby

Poor little Coby is all congested at the moment and has a cough. We've tried keeping him upright to sleep as much as possible, nasal drops and an oil burner with eucalyptus oil, but he is becoming a little distressed so I am taking him to the Health Visitor today to see what she advises. Here he is tucked in bed with mummy...

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

I like nothing better than to sit in my comfy chair and watch TV. My favourite channel at the moment is E4, especially 'Friends', 'Celebrity Big Brother' and 'American Idol'.

I also like DVD's and have so far watched the first ten minutes of Shrek (because I fell asleep) and the first 20 minutes of Toy Story 2 (again, I fell asleep).

Recbecca's 1st Birthday Party

We took Coby to his first children's party today. Rebecca was celebrating her 1st birthday and had a bouncy castle, a bubble machine and lots of tasty food.

Coby slept the whole time and woke up just as we were leaving, but he caught the attention of some little friends...

Book Worm Baby

Coby has joined the library! He has his own library card and can have up to 12 items. We selected 'Mog & the Baby', 'Off to School, Baby Duck', 'Paddington, Trouble at the Laundrette', 'Babies' and 'Chicken Licken'. We also borrowed some Winnie the Pooh videos, which Coby watched with great delight.

Tickety Boo

Hello everyone. I went to the doctor today and she examined me to make sure that I am ok and everything is tickety boo.

I now weigh 13lbs 1oz and my height is 56.5 cm. My reflexes are excellent and my response to light and sound is even more excellent. So I am officially excellent!

Mummy was checked by the doctor too because she has to be sure that everything is tickety boo with mummy as well so that we can look after each other properly.

We did not get time to go to the library or the leisure centre because my friends all came over and my mummy made lunch for everyone.

We are going to the library tomorrow and guess what? My daddy has the day off work so he is coming too! Yipppeee! Mummy has a whole list of books she wants to get so she can read them to me when I go to bed at night.

Busy Bees - Round 2

Today Coby has his 8 week check up with the GP and tomorrow.....first round of jabs! We'll also get him weighed and see if he has gained much since last week when he was 12lbs 8oz.

This afternoon we have the babies and their mums from our NCT classes coming to the house, so a good opportunity to take some pictures of the babies together. As their first smiles are beginning to take shape and the babies are more alert, we should get some lovely snaps.

Then when everyone has gone home, I'm taking Coby to the local library to get his own library card and then we'll stop at the leisure centre to get some information on mother and baby swimming classes.

Still busy bees, but we're loving every single moment...

Munchkin

Although it looks like he's smiling for the camera,
Coby was actually watching 'Friends' when I took this picture.

Home Sweet Home

We're home! We had a lovely time with grandma and grandad. They both had to head off to work this morning, so we had to say goodbye early, but we will see them again very soon.

On the way home we stopped off to visit my good friend Sally-Ann. Her five year old daughter Emily was at school but little Matthew was on hand to provide some entertainment...

Hey, don't point that camera at me!

Oh ok then...

Teplet's Growing

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for the support you have given us since Coby's birth. To those of you who regularly check in to this blog, thank you for your continued interest in Coby's progress. Since we launched the site at the end of October we've received nearly 1,300 visits.

Don't forget you can post your own comments to Coby or you can e-mail him at teplet@hotmail.co.uk. Although he is only a baby, it will be just wonderful for him to read your comments when he is older and see just how much he is thought of. It is particularly heart-warming for our friends and family across the world to be able to see how he is growing and developing, particularly for those who may not get a chance for some time to meet Coby.

Over the next few months we will be adding some fun elements to the site that you will be able to participate in - a weekly caption competition will appear from next week with prizes for the best one so please keep watching.

We continue to receive glowing enthusiasm and encouragement for the Teplet site and we hope you gain as much enjoyment from Teplet as we do putting the site together.

Bless you all!

Happy Birthday Nanna!

So Coby and I headed up North to Lincolnshire to surprise Nanna Bagnall for her birthday. Grandad knew we were coming and managed to keep it a secret for over a week (thanks Dad!). After packing everything but the kitchen sink for our two night stay, we took a leisurely drive up the A1 and arrived mid morning. Grandma was completely surprised and the look on her face was priceless. Coby continued to amaze us with his beautiful smiles and seemed happy to know that he had made Grandma happy and therefore Grandad was happy and so was I. Poor dad back home is missing us terribly though and I have to admit I could not let Coby out of my sight for more than a day!

We took a visit to mummy's friend Angela who lives in the same village as nanna and grandad. Angela is a very talented and skilled seamstress and she is knitting Coby a cardigan and making him a patchwork quilt. We had lunch with Angela and she gave Coby his feed before reluctantly saying cheerio until next time.

On our way home tomorrow we are stopping off to say hello to mummy's friend Sally-Ann and her two children Emily (aged five) and Matthew (aged one). Mummy used to live with Sally-Ann before she moved to London and met daddy. Sally-Ann is a nurse and used to work with mummy in the Accident & Emergency department at the local hospital. We have been friends for a long time and always try and pop in for a visit.
Hopefully we can get some pictures of Coby with Emily and Matthew who are both adorable!

In the meantime, here are some pictures of Coby taken at Nanna and grandad's...

All by myself...

Don't wanna be, all by myself anymore...

Coby and Sarah have gone up north to suprise Nana Bagnall as it is her birthday tomorrow.

Am alone in the house and have work to do but just can't do it. Blowing the day off and chilling out. Rare opportunity I guess and just have to take it. Going to visit my dad, have a real turkish kebab as opposed to the crappy kebabs one normally gets at 2am when drunk and gonna hang with Jus etc.

Whilst I have only known Coby for about two months he has quickly become the center of my universe. Missing his facial expressions...this is my favourite pic so far...he is so cheeky already he he he...apple did not fall far from the tree eh?

Cheeky? Moi?

Busy Bees

Coby is two months old today! He is being weighed tomorrow and I suspect it won't be long before he is twice his birth weight of 7lbs 8oz. He has been sleeping longer through the night and is settled in his own room now. He is an absolute stunner, but then I am his mother, and he is taking notice of his surroundings much more. TV seems to be a distraction already and he loves his baby gym with the flashing lights.

Auntie June is staying with us at the moment and helping out loads. We are so busy and little Cobes is certainly keeping us on our toes.

Dribbler

Coby is a new member of the Spurs Dribblers Club. He received his welcome pack yesterday which included a Christmas card signed by the team, a fork and spoon set and a Chirpy cuddly toy. As you can see from this photo, Coby is completely over the moon with his new status as a junior member of the Tottenham Hotspur appreciation society.
