Festive Friends

Maddy invited us over for a pre-christmas lunch today. She made her famous sausage rolls and some beautiful butternut squash soup washed down with mulled wine. Coby took a shine to Louis' Bob the Builder bike and, as you can imagine, wherever Coby goes, Louis tends to follow and vice versa. Alicia was there too with Sammy and not forgetting Jelly the cat.

We've just spent a magnificent weekend in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam for our wedding anniversary. Our good friends, David and Purdy joined us for much food and sight seeing, however, we are very glad to be home as we've missed Coby soooooooooooooooo much!. He has been in the capable hands of nanna and grandad in Lincolnshire and we get to see him tomorrow!!

HAPPY HANUKKAH

Hanukkah is an 8 day Jewish holiday also known as the Festival of Light and today we got to light all of the candles on the hanukiah. We had dinner at grandma Wendy's as she has just returned from her trip to the US and had a huge bundle of presents for Coby. We ate salt beef and potato latkes followed by doughnuts, yummy, yummy. And Coby was given his first dreidel, a spinning top traditionally played with during this holiday.

Happy Hanukkah!

Coby the Snowman

So, we're approaching the final countdown to Christmas - 14 days now! Coby had double party duties today, first with his end of term party at Music Train and then it was on to the Tiggy's Christmas Party at nursery. Two visits from Santa and a ton of sausage rolls and cakes later, Coby now lies tucked up in bed, worn out from the day's activities....

A Grand Weekend

Coby has been staying with nanny and grandad in Lincolnshire since last Thursday! It's the longest period of time that we've been without him and it wasn't easy, although it has been a welcome break for us with time to relax and a lovely treat for mum and dad. Unfortunately mum has spent the last couple of nights in hospital. She had a chest and sinus infection and because she is between chemotherapy threatments, her platelets are low, so it was best that the hospital kept her monitored. Hopefully she'll be home today!

Over the weekend, they took Coby out and about including a trip to see Santa...!

Birthday Gang

Who's That Hiding Under There??

"Hide, Hide!"

Coby's favourite hiding place, under the kitchen table, except on this occasion I caught him out

Proud As Punch

On Monday Coby had his 2 year development check at the health centre. He now weighs 28lbs (about 2 stone) and is 82cm tall!! The health visitor was very impressed with his skills and development and said he was above average! Hoorah!

And even better was parents evening at his nursery last night. We were told that Coby is delightful to have around, very sociable and loving and his communication skills are very strong. His nickname at nursery is Happy Chappie! Al and I had no idea that the nursery keep an observation record for each child's session - we were presented with a folder full of Coby's. Here are some extracts:

Observation: Coby holds 2 magnetic bricks together which he has made into a car. he walks across the room and says 'car'. Coby then picks up a Bill & Ben toy and says 'Ben'. He runs over to a member of staff (Vicky) and shouts 'Icky, Icky' and then gives her a cuddle saying 'awww'. He then sits and says 'Bill, Ben' over and over. Coby runs over to the abacus and begins pushing the beads around the wire.

Evaluation: Coby's vocal and language skills are coming along very well. He is very chatty with the adults. Coby is very good at expressing his feelings and is very special to others. Keep encourging this and he will develop further. Coby is confident in all he does and he is able to make friendships with other children.

These reports are held at the nursery and presented to Ofsted inspectors as well as samples of each child's work. We were very impressed. We love his nursery and hope he can stay there unitl he starts primary school. Best of all, Coby is happy there and they are disappointed that he only comes one day a week!

Drum Roll Please...

Thank you Justin & Stacey for Coby's drum kit -
it's been moved to the conservatory for the acoustics!

Party Time

The Angel's Reply in Hitchin is one of our favourite places so we decided to head there on Saturday to celebrate the kids birthdays. Coby was joined by Louis (1st Nov), Jasmine, (2oth) and Lola (25th) and the four of them had a fun time in the play area with Uncle Mark. Grandma Wendy baked a beautiful cake - a train consisting of an engine and several carriages covered in icing and dolly mixtures! The kids played pass the parcel and received goodie bags too. Can you guess who had the most fun?....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COBY!

Can you believe Coby is 2 years old today?? We certainly can't, but the onset of those much talked about 'Terrible Two's' is confirmation enough that Coby is leaving behind those baby months and entering into toddlerhood. His vocabulary is really coming along now as is his desire to have everything he wants and do everything himself. Tantrums are in abundance and the word 'NO' can be heard quite frequently from his little lips.

We kicked off Coby's birthday with a grand card and present opening. Thank you to everyone for your generous gifts - Coby truly was spoilt beyond belief. Grandma Wendy arrived around lunch time with a Thomas the Tank Engine train set which I had tremendous fun putting together. Coby loved it and stroked the battery operated trains as they whizzed around the track. After a lovely lunch at Cafe Rouge in Hitchin, we went home to wait the arrival of Uncle Martin and Great Aunt June who came over especially to see Coby.

Coby opens the first of his sack load of cards!

And then came presents!
