Precious, precious, precious.

We took Coby to hospital last night because his breathing was a great concern to us. He was wheezing and breathing very shallow. So, on the advice of NHS Direct, we took him to A&E.

I had taken him to our GP earlier in the day and he was prescribed antibiotics and saline nasal drops, but after his last feed before bedtime, he was sick and his breathing seemed to deteriorate.

On arrival at the hospital, Coby's oxygen was slightly low and he was given an oxygen mask, which he persistently knocked away with his tiny fists. He was also given a nebuliser and monitored before the paediatrician came down to see him. He suspected the onset of bronchiolitis, which is quite common in babies. Fortunately, his oxygen level came back up and he took all of his early morning feed. In the end he was turning on the Teplet charm and smiling away at the nurses, but frowned up at the paediatric doctor as he did his examination.

I nearly booked myself in as a patient....the anxiety was written all over my face as the nurse prescribed a good cry when we got home. I only made it to the car before the tears came down in big heavy sobs. And so it begins...the anguish of being a parent. Now I know what really causes wrinkles!!
