George's Marvellous Medicine

Coby and I enjoyed a trip to the theatre today to see a fantastic version of 'George's Marvellous Medicine'. We've read the book to Coby, so he was very familiar with the story. The show was at the Palace Theatre in Watford and featured some tremendous talent, particularly Erika Poole, who played grandma! You really DID hate her!

I'm a big fan of Roald Dahl and have also read The Twits to Coby and he's seen The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and Fantastic Mr Fox. We recently had great fun learning Gobblefunk - a strange language created by Roald Dahl. Coby laughed his head off at splatch-winkle (rushing around: in a hurry), hornswoggler (a very dangerous creature), whoopsy-splunkers (used to describe something absolutely marvellous) and, our personal favourite, vermicious knid (vicious beasts who can fool you by changing shape). Quite rightly, the author once said "You can write about anything for children as long as you've got humour".
